How Certis Australia transformed their business with technology

Who better to speak about innovation and digital experiences than Ying Loong Lee, Managing Director and Head of Protective Services and Strategic Operations Technology from Certis Australia. He will present his Case Study about how Certis Australia transformed their business with technology.

Ying Loong Lee is a pioneer in Ops-Tech, having delivered successful and transformative solutions in Singapore and Australia, resulting in improved customer relationships and new business. Ying Loong is a passionate advocate for the role technology can play in modern security solutions.

For Certis, security is also about ops-tech, overseeing the equipment of the operations platform in a company. They combine advanced security, facilities management and excellent customer experience into a single holistic service, supported and underpinned by technology. To solve a problem with their largest client, they initiated a digital transformation journey that took them from processing manually handwritten reports to a company that uses technology as a competitive advantage.

Certis Australia and PhoenixDX’s story started in 2017. Certis, a Singaporean headquartered security company with operations in Hong Kong, Macau, China and Qatar, acquired BRI security Australia in 2016. Ying Loong Lee was seconded to Sydney to look after the IT systems. He immediately realised that their systems were insufficient and that it would be challenging to successfully service their largest client with their legacy systems. 

Ying Loong tried to find an off-the-shelf solution, but after searching for 3 months, he could not find anything suitable. He looked at adapting the systems utilised in their Singapore office, but that was not viable. One of the Certis IT leaders in Singapore had been looking into OutSystems as a means to integrate software rapidly. Ying Loong was intrigued, and this is how he met PhoenixDX. 

Once he realised that OutSystems was the right platform, as he would not be locked in, and PhoenixDX was the right partner, they teamed up to build their Business Operational Support System (BOSS) solution.

The resulting platform was incredibly successful, winning innovations awards in 2018 and 2019. Their biggest Australian customer was blown away by how effective and easy to use the solution was. 

Ying Loong’s success has continued, and he has taken the lead globally, implementing new software systems within Certis.
